Focus and Scope

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has become a distinct field of knowledge, scientific and engineering practice and business. In the last few decades, computational technologies have improved dramatically to enable personal computing of handling sophisticated CFD calculations with the modern processing and memory modules. In the present time, CFD represent an unrelenting research tool in aerodynamics, thermofluids, biomechanics, safety, ergonomics, and sport sciences. The interaction between the development of novel concepts and methodologies and the application driven demands is creating an accelerated production of research focuses and intents. In addition, the diversity of CFD related fields stimulates researchers to interact, in an interdisciplinary environment, in order to discover possible solutions for contemporary problems ranging from insect flight aerodynamics, through respiratory and artery flow dynamics to hypersonic propulsion and atmospheric metrology.

CFD Letters publishes as rapidly as possible manuscripts of high quality which addresses eminent topics of computational fluid dynamics theory and applications. Being an international, peer-reviewed, online and open access journal, CFD Letters presents a world-wide forum for the dissemination of knowledge among engineers, scientists and mathematicians working in the field of computational fluid mechanics.

The submission, review, and publication processes in CFD Letters are comprehensively web-based in order to facilitate the major goal of rapid publication. In addition to its distinguished fast publication time (maximum 60 days of submission date) , CFD Letters is the first short-communications publication devoted exclusively to computational fluid dynamics research.

Starting in June 2009, CFD Letters will publish four issues annually, aiming for bi-monthly publication frequency in five years time.

Peer Review Process

Except editorials, all manuscripts submitted for publication in CFD Letters are subjected to a double peer review process before the editorial decision is made. We strive to keep the review time limited to six weeks from the initial date of submission. This is done through our online peer review system which enables our referees of completing a rigorous review process using advanced web-based evaluation forms. In all cases the identity of referees are kept anonymous from the author(s).

Once the peer review process is completed, the reviewers’ comments are sent to the author(s) with the editorial decision. Two weeks would be given to the author(s) to reply to the reviewers’ comment and editorial decision, otherwise the submission should be considered void.

When a manuscript is accepted, the author(s) should provide the editor with a camera-ready final revised version of the manuscript, formatted according to CFD Letters template in a MS Word 2003 file. Author(s) who prefer to use LaTeX word processing systems must convert their accepted manuscript to MS Word 2003 for the final submission process.

Publication Frequency

CFD Letters publishes four issues every year, in March, June, Sptember and December.

Open Access Policy

CFD Letters provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
